Hose Insert Distance

Hose Insert Distance

To achieve an optimum swage, the distance that the hose is inserted into the stem and ferrule is critical. If the hose is inserted either too little or too much the result will be either under or over swaging. The resultant effect of either case will be reduced burst pressure and / or useful life of the hose assembly.

The hose insert distance defined below is specified for each type and size of stem.

Procedure

  • Measure the hose insert distance in from both ends of the hose.
  • Insert the hose into the stem and ferrule so that the marker is just visible.
  • Swage both end of the hose.
